Our strawberry fairy and Spiderman.
I got to take Jackson around this year, and he was very brave, saying Trick or Treat and Thank You, mostly without prompting. He still wanted to hold my hand, though, which made a Mama happy.
Don't worry--this is a fake flame.
Ian and parents came over to join us for Trick or Treating. Here are our Nordic superheroes, sharing trade secrets.
This was our view for most of the night.
Jackson's favorite part this year and last year was handing out candy. Here he is, poised for trick-or-treaters. We probably had 100 or more, and his excitement at seeing someone approach never waned.
Sunday morning, Jackson's class sang for the school's church service. Grandma Good will be glad to know that he didn't push anyone and actually sang the whole song.
We then took the kiddos to Fun Depot to run off some of the sugar energy.

Brian did a great job of being Superdad while I was gone, including carving this pumpkin with both kids, resulting in no blood loss for anyone involved.
Here's Jackson, modeling his pumpkin. He is joined by the neighborhood sweetie cat, Betty.
We eked out a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, despite heavy fog. Here's my best shot of the day.
Well, THIS is my best shot...
View from the water ferry to Granville Island.
These are the 2010 Olympics mascots. They were EVERYWHERE.
Me with my copresenters, Heather and Laurel, at the Public Market in Granville. We decided that we'd make a nice folk trio with our earthy names.
I had to take a picture of something that proved I was really in BC, or else I don't think I'd have believed it myself.
Where's Jackson?

Leading us down a dead end in the maze.
Brian helped out with CANstruction this year, a design event that benefits Manna Food Bank. Here's Jackson with our favorite creation, the Emerald City of Cans.
Pack Place rhino. Jackson kept wanting to "go in his beh-yee."
Coloring with Maddie on a recent playdate. The paintings you see are quite symbolic of their opposite natures...
Jenna chowing down with Daddy.
At Audrey's costume party, here's Jackson showing off his pumpkin craft. (He's quite savvy with the Elmer's glue)
Pinning the smile on the pumpkin.
Playing musical monsters. (He was runner-up in this round, quite by accident. I don't think he ever quite knew why they were walking in a circle, and then he'd just calmly stop on a monster while everyone scrambled when the music stopped.)

Jenna, the strawberry fairy. (There's a cute stem-headband that we're still trying to keep on her head long enough for a picture. It kind of pulls the outfit together...)
Jenna's finally discovered books. She's been indifferent/squirmy about them until recently, but she's well on her way to bookwormhood now.
This is my new favorite face of Jenna's. It comes with my favorite silly mood of Jenna's, and I hope she never outgrows it! (Well, maybe I'll change my tune if she's doing this in her wedding pictures.)
Jackson painted family portraits one rainy day this week. He was very consistent--everyone started with eyes and a nose, then they got "yegs" (he still can't do Ls. I love it), a tongue, and a dress.
These are Daddy and Jenna. The resemblance is uncanny.
My failed attempt to get a picture of Jenna against our pretty dogwood tree.

Had to include this one for the cowlick.

Swinging with G.G.
Jackson at the Zoo with a buddy.
Jackson is still talking about all of these birds.
Ice cream on our last night in Jacksonville.
Jackson couldn't wait to jump into the fountain. Right after we snapped this shot, he started pulling his pants off, much to the amusement of the many teenagers who were there for a school dance. We were able to convince him it was OK to take this particular bath with his clothes on.
