SWCA at Birmingham

One of my work favorites and I presented for the Southeastern Writing Center Association conference in Birmingham in late February, and it was a great excuse for some learning but also some chatterboxing and touristing.

We climbed up to the top of Vulcan for a beautiful (and cold!) view of the city.

Us enjoying the city.

Us asserting our expertise.

Can't resist a photo op.

On our way out of town, we stopped in to see Sloss Furnaces, a National Historic Landmark, and take a gazillion steampunky photos.

More Mad Max

Hi, Goliath!

Jenna made this for my book club. I just said "can you make a cute welcome?" and she busted this out.

Cute ushers

Jenna was at a sleepover to enjoy the snow (She's in the middle)

Youth Group Trip to Raleigh

Jackson is a very hesitant participant in most large-group activities, and youth group has been no different. This year, we didn't really give him the option of bowing out of the MLK weekend service trip his youth group does every year, and we got him off to Raleigh without too much trouble. He won't admit it, but we could tell from hearing him talk about it that he had a pretty great time.

Teaching his pals how to draw comics.

Our travel day was a rainy one, so us early birds sent reassurance to the travelers that goofiness and dry homes awaited them.
